In 2002, I became not only Frank's wife, but also Amanda and Rebecca's step mom. Although I've not yet become a grandmother, I suspect that it won't be very long until I do. Yikes. (How did that happen to us?? Remember when grandparents used to be old?)

Memorable Class: Gen Hokman's senior English class.  I loved the reading we did and our discussions; probably that class, along with Eleanor Culley's junior English class, inspired my career choice. Foolishly, I thought that everyone liked English class. (I learned otherwise later, believe me.) Of course, the class was also memorable because Gen Hokman was a piece of work, a true character!

Memorable Event: The Bopcat competition at Idora Park.  Actually, I suppose that any event involving the dance band was pretty meaningful for me, but the excitement when we won the tri-state competitions during our sophomore and senior years was truly memorable. I still remember clearly how proud Bill Schwartz was of all of us and how happy we were that he was so pleased.

Memorable teacher: Herm Mowrey (sp?). Any teacher who carries a toothbrush in his pocket protector, uses an old, hotel-desk-style bell to get kids' attention, and hides a "surprise problem" on the blackboard under a window blind is bound to haunt his math students. I never did find out who substituted the Playboy centerfold for one of those surprise problems, but it was a golden moment when Mr. Mowrey raised that blind.
